Breanna’s Favorite Project

My favorite project that I’ve completed at Focal Flame is the studio mural. It has always been a dream of mine to design and paint a mural, so when Clint said he wanted to update the wall I jumped at the opportunity!

The objective was to portray all there is to Focal Flame on one wall… which was a challenge since there is no one else quite like us. The only other direction given for the theme of the mural was to incorporate the phrase “Be Curious”.

I started the process by doing some mural and design research, and mocked up a option that I pitched to the team, which is pictured above. It was too orange, which can be a problem since the color can reflect onto subjects while we’re taking photos inside the studio. After some revisions (and way less orange), we settled on the design featured below and I was ready to begin painting.

It took a total of 3 days to put a fresh coat of paint on the wall, measure and stencil out the new design (freehand!), and paint the mural. During that time I recorded the entire process to make a time lapse video, which you can see here.

I am proud of how the mural project turned out, and super grateful for the opportunity and challenge.
