For beginning photographers: DSLR Basics
This 2-hour class is perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the fundamentals of digital photography, as well as getting more comfortable with your DSLR camera. No previous experience is necessary. Your instructor is an experienced, in-house Focal Flame photographer who loves sharing the joy of photography. Topics covered include:
- The "Exposure Triangle": ISO, shutter speed, and aperture
- Exposure modes
- How to achieve effects like motion blur

For experienced photographers: Advanced Photography Techniques
Are you comfortable with your camera? Have some experience with photography, but want to explore the craft in more depth? Have you taken the Focal Flame DSLR Basics class? This class is designed just for you. Your instructor is an experienced, in-house Focal Flame photographer who loves sharing the joy of photography. Advance Photography Techniques includes 2 sessions, 2 hours each. Topics include:
- In-depth discussion of lenses
- Metering
- White balance
- Post-processing
- Exposure compensation
- Advanced AF techniques
- Composition
- How to critique photographs

Policies: Minimum enrollment required. If enrollment minimum is not met, class is subject to rescheduling or cancellation; we will contact all enrolled students to assess a possible date for rescheduling. Registration is not confirmed until tuition fee is paid. To pay by credit card, click on the buttons next to each class description. To pay by check, email us for instructions. Cancellation policy: 75% refund if you tell us in writing that you will not be attending within 2 weeks of class date; 50% refund if by 1 week from class date; no refund if less than 1 week from class. If class is canceled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient date.
