Clint Thayer (b. 1972) is a professional photographer in Madison, Wisconsin. Thayer was raised on coast of Lake Erie in the small town of Lakeside, Ohio, surrounded by rocky shorelines and powerful storms. It was in this setting that he first honed his observation of motion, light, and human form.

With a dual interest in photography and computer programming, Clint balances technical aspects of digital photography with a keen sense of composition. Majoring in computer science, Clint studied photography at The College of Wooster in Ohio. He also studied under Richard Clarkson at the Summit Series of Sports Photography at the U.S. Olympic National Training Center in Colorado Springs and has trained in Miksang, a form of contemplative photography, at the Madison Shambhala Center. Clint is a member of the Center for Photography at Madison.  In addition to his photography work, he is a web developer at the UW Department of Medicine and owner and developer for Thayernet, LLC.  A member of the Mad City Velo bike club, he enjoys road and mountain cycling and spending time with his family - writer and co-founder Robyn Perrin, and their two daughters.  

Clint Thayer’s exhibitions and awards include:

• “Driving Rain” (2010) – Exhibition Placement in the 2^nd Annual International Fine Arts Competition: Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport (juried by a 3-member panel) at the National Art Museum of Sport, Indianapolis, IN. Founded in 1959, NAMOS maintains one of the largest collections of fine art depicting sport in the United States. The museum is dedicated to encouraging artists engaged in the genre, and also to collect, preserve, and share the best examples of sport art NAMOS can acquire.
• “Stand Up” (2010) – Signs of Protest Exhibit at the Center for Photography at Madison (juried)
• two 2^nd place and 1 honorable mention awards (2010), Lakeside, Ohio Photography Show (juried)
•  “Muscle Meet Pedal” (2010) - juried photograph book entitled First Look (Center for Photography at Madison)
•  “Tangles,” Members’ Show, CPM (2010)
•  Honorable mention, Adorama iPhone Photo Contest (2009, juried)
• “First Bees” (2009), XI Concurso Internacional de Fotografía Apícola (juried).

Thayer’s photographs have been published in several publications including Cyclocross Magazine (Issue No. 13), Silent Sports (cover, Nov. 2011), the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Off the Couch blog, and as commercial art in the Isthmus newspaper, Competitor magazine, and several large-format commercial billboards or signs.

Born and raised in central Ohio, Robyn fell in love with the clear skies and cold winters of Wisconsin upon visiting Madison for a conference in the late 1990s. Her professional experience ranges from scientific research, to technical writing and marketing, to freelance writing and editing, to patent law. She has spelunked in New Mexico, studied classical clarinet, and biked from East Lansing, Michigan to the Mackinaw Bridge – twice. A love of language, biology, and the human experience has been a constant focus.  Her joy in creative nonfiction writing is to develop insight into the subject through interview and observation, then share the story with authenticity, reflection, playfulness, and a helping of gentle wit. Robyn's articles have appeared in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Off the Couch blog, Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine, Wisconsin Technology Network news, Wisepreneur, and Science Careers. She has also published 13 research articles in scientific journals. 

She met Clint Thayer, co-owner of Focal Flame Photography, on the first day of college. They’ve been together ever since. Racing together as a cycling tandem team required a lot of coordination, which is now paying dividends as they raise their daughters.
